Diagnostics Facility
The CPSM Diagnostic facility is dedicated to the detection, isolation and identification of plant pathogens in native and cultivated forest systems. Our professional team of plant pathologists is skilled in the diagnosis of a broad range of plant diseases in native, horticultural and plantation forestry species, as well as the identification of non-pathogenic fungal species.
The Centre for Phytophthora Science and Management (CPSM) specializes in the diagnosis of pathogens belonging to the Phytophthora genera with particular focus on the detection of Phytophthora cinnamomi, the primary cause of Phytophthora Dieback in native bushland throughout the temperate regions of southern Australia.
We are experienced in the isolation and diagnosis of all plant and tree diseases. Our diagnosis costs include molecular identification.
Our Approach:
We utilize traditional culturing techniques as well as DNA diagnostic tools where appropriate to offer the highest throughput and level of confidence in analysis possible.
Our Research:
New technologies are emerging on an ongoing basis and CPSM Diagnostics are continually testing these both in the laboratory and in their application to field analysis. These new techniques are adopted in our routine analysis accordingly.
